MVH and MVHS Earn Two National Awards for Patient Satisfaction

December 6, 2013 (Dayton, OH) – Miami Valley Hospital South (MVHS) and Miami Valley Hospital (MVH) recently received two prestigious Press Ganey awards for high patient satisfaction.

The Emergency Department at MVHS has been named a 2013 Guardian of Excellence Award winner by Press Ganey Associates, Inc. The Guardian of Excellence Award recognizes top-performing facilities that consistently achieved the 95th percentile of performance in patient satisfaction.

The Press Ganey Guardian of Excellence Award is a health care industry symbol of achievement. Fewer than 5% of all Press Ganey clients reach this threshold and consistently maintain it for the one year reporting period.

Press Ganey also recognized MVH outpatient satellites with the Beacon of Excellence Award, given to institutions that have maintained consistently high levels of excellence in patient satisfaction for three consecutive years. MVH was one of only 26 institutions in the nation recognized for patient satisfaction. The outpatient areas earning the award included:

  • Sports Medicine (physical therapy, occupational therapy and hand therapy)
  • Medical Imaging
  • Physical Therapy
  • Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy Center
  • Advanced Testing Area
  • Non-invasive Cardiology Testing

“Putting patients first and providing the highest quality of care is our mission at Miami Valley Hospital,” said Bobbie Gerhart, president and CEO. “These two awards are based on the feedback of our patients, our most important critics. Their praise is the result of a staff – from physicians and nurses to staff members in supporting roles that make patients their first priority.”

All Press Ganey clients are considered for the awards. The firm currently partners with more than 10,000 healthcare facilities, including more than 40 percent of U.S. hospitals, to measure and improve the quality of their care.
