Miami Valley Hospital (MVH) community engagement programs include Good Neighbor Partnership and local school programs.
A Community Partner
MVH is proud to be a dedicated community partner in the Dayton area. Through programs like the Good Neighbor Partnership and sports medicine coverage at local schools and universities, MVH demonstrates how much it values being an engaged member of the Dayton community.
Good Neighbor Partnership
In 1998, MVH and the Dayton Police Department’s Second District created the Good Neighbor Partnership. This successful community program provides neighborhood-based police officers in the Fairgrounds and South Park areas. The program helps officers address neighborhood concerns, reduce crime, provide protection for citizens, and promote community health services. The resulting decrease in crime paved the way for the opening of more than a dozen new businesses in the area.
Local Schools Services
Miami Valley Hospital’s mission is to build healthier communities. To us, schools are at the heart of a community. They are where our friends and families come together for academics, sports and other extracurricular activities. A place where our youth build on their values, strengths and encouragement for a positive future. A place where our general community members plan and foster an overall environment of vitality and possibilities. Miami Valley Hospital’s partnership with area school districts helps meet the need for community support at a fundamental level – where our investment lies in our youth and the future quality of life of the communities that we serve.
Miami Valley Hospital is proud to partner with area school districts to provide a model of healthy living that will last far into the future. Whether it’s conditioning for a sport, treating a sports injury, providing necessary health screenings or offering students a glimpse into the health care field with hands-on seminars, MVH’s team of experts is on site at the schools encouraging and guiding students, their parents and their community toward success.
The Drive Alive Program is offered through Miami Valley Hospital’s Shaw Emergency Department. Drive ALIVE features a team of health, medical, and law enforcement professionals who have experienced firsthand the tragic aftermath caused by impaired driving. The goal of the Drive ALIVE program is to reduce the number of collisions, injuries, and fatalities on the roads.
