Burn Center

Burns require rapid, specialized care that can last several days or even weeks. The Miami Valley Hospital Regional Burn Center provides that care in a dedicated facility with access to the region’s most experienced Level I Trauma Center.

Specialized Care

Burn patients have special needs. We’re equipped to care for them — from admission to discharge. The burn center is located inside Miami Valley Hospital, providing intensive treatment and continuous specialized care in a dedicated, 10-bed unit.

The burn center offers:

  • A ventilation system isolated from the rest of the hospital to control possible infections
  • Special heat controls built into the rooms to maintain each patient’s body temperature
  • Two treatment rooms equipped with the latest technology and built to operating room specifications
  • Access to the latest technologies, including bioengineered skin substitutes

Dedicated 10-Bed Burn Unit

Patients receive intensive treatment and continuous, specialized care in the 10-bed burn unit. This unit has its own ventilation system to control possible infections, special heat controls to maintain each patient's body temperature, and two treatment rooms equipped with the latest technology and built to operating room specifications. A team of experienced professionals care for burn injury patients in a single, dedicated unit specifically designed for their needs from admission to discharge.

Same-Day Burn Clinic

Miami Valley Hospital has a same-day burn clinic that handles burn patients who do not require hospitalization. The burn clinic is staffed by board-certified physicians and advanced practice providers, including board-certified wound specialists. The burn clinic also offers additional treatment for patients who have been discharged from the burn center.

Burn Center Team

Specialists including physicians, nurses, occupational and physical therapists, a dietitian, pharmacists, a social worker, psychologists and pastoral counselors work as a multidisciplinary team. The team meets regularly to discuss the cases of individual patients and formulate a care plan for each patient.
