Focusing on You
Our Breast Center teams are devoted to providing patients with personalized care. Centralized scheduling, convenient locations, and varied appointment hours make it easy to arrange an appointment that fits patients’ busy lifestyle.
Because waiting for results is often the most challenging aspect of any medical test, diagnostic mammograms and ultrasounds are reviewed by a board-certified radiologist and discussed with the patients before they leave the Breast Center. Reports may even arrive at the physician’s office before the patient makes it home.
We typically evaluate screening mammograms within two to three days and send a report with the results to the physician as soon as the images are reviewed. If additional imaging is needed to complete the evaluation of the breast, we will contact the patient directly by phone. We will then contact the physician to let he or she know when the patient is returning. As required by federal law, all results are also sent to the patient by letter.
The experienced staff at the Miami Valley Hospital Breast Centers provide high-quality, consistent results and caring services to our patients.
Board-certified and fellowship trained in mammography, radiologist Naomi M. Kane, MD, medical director of the Breast Centers, leads a team of five additional board-certified radiologists. Our team collaborates with other physicians during a weekly breast cancer care conference to ensure that we are providing the most comprehensive and highest-standard care.
Our mammography technologists (licensed medical professionals who perform diagnostic imaging examinations) are certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and work under the supervision of the radiologists. Each of our mammography technologists has obtained advanced mammography certification. They are educated in anatomy, patient-positioning techniques, and equipment protocols.

Digital imaging allows the Miami Valley Hospital Breast Centers to provide advanced diagnoses. We also utilize computer-aided detection technology to perform a second look at the images, which may mark any suspicious-looking areas. These areas can then be re-reviewed by the radiologist, who can determine if further evaluation is needed. The R2 Imagechecker increases the accuracy of early-stage cancer diagnosis to 98 percent.

Schedule a Mammogram
A screening mammogram, for women who have no symptoms, may be scheduled without a physician's order if the patient is 40 years or older. However, it is always best to check in with a health care provider yearly, and while there they can provide an order for the test. All other breast imaging requires a physician's order.
To schedule a mammogram, call (937) 499-7364(937) 499-7364 or toll-free at (855) 887-7364(855) 887-7364.
The High Risk Breast Cancer Program
For most women, having annual mammograms and breast examinations may be adequate to ensure early detection of breast cancer. For women at high risk of developing breast cancer because of family or personal history, however, a more comprehensive, early detection program is necessary.
