Education and Support
Miami Valley Hospital Respiratory Care recommends staying up-to-date on the latest respiratory health information. Understanding lung disease is critical to helping patients manage shortness of breath and medications for breathing.
We believe the best outcomes occur when you are informed about your health and actively participate in your recovery. MVH’s trained staff uses education to ensure you feel confident and prepared to care of yourself at home. Follow-up phone calls may be made to high-risk patients after they leave the hospital.
Once you are home, we will:
- Give tips on how to manage your condition at home, such as how to get secretions out and expand your lungs
- Provide counseling, including smoking cessation counseling (if needed)
- Schedule follow-up visits
- Fill prescriptions
