Weight Loss Patients Show off New Shapes
DAYTON,OH - Patients who have undergone weight loss surgery will be showing off their new silhouettes at a fall fashion show Sunday, Sept. 17, at Miami Valley Hospital. The event is called Celebrating Life and will get underway with a silent auction followed by the fashion show slated to begin at 2:30 p.m. Dale Huffman, Dayton Daily News columnist, will act as celebrity emcee.
"The men and women who will be modeling are very proud of their weight loss achievement," says Dr. John Maguire, a bariatric surgeon who specializes in weight loss surgery. "This event will mark a significant milestone for many of the models as they reveal how much weight they have lost in order to regain a healthier body. The event is also a way for patients to express their thanks to family and friends who have offered support and encouragement during their weight loss." Dr. Teel, also specializing in weight loss surgery, states, "This event truly is a celebration of life. Many of our patients tell us that they feel as though they have a new life after weight loss surgery."
Fashions will be provided by "New Enuf," a consignment boutique located in Waynesville. "It is not practical to shop retail for new clothes when in three months time you may shrink several dress sizes after undergoing weight loss surgery," says Debra Anderson, program manager for the Bariatric Surgery Program at Miami Valley Hospital. Anderson says that one solution to looking fashionable while losing weight is to shop at area consignment shops such as New Enuf where stylish pants, dresses and tops can be purchased while figures are transitioning into new shapes.
"New Enuf" owner Debbie McCallister has worked with each of the models appearing in Sunday's event to put together business, casual and evening looks.
The Celebrating Life event is sponsored by Miami Valley Hospital and Premier Bariatric Associates.
