Second Bariatric Surgeon Joins Weight Loss Surgery Center at Miami Valley Hospital
DAYTON, Ohio — Donovan D. Teel, II, MD, bariatric surgeon, has joined The Weight Loss Surgery Center at Miami Valley Hospital (MVH). He specializes in complex laparoscopic bariatric procedures and gastrointestinal surgery.
Dr. Teel comes to MVH to join John Maguire, MD, a founding member of the American Society of Bariatrics and the region's leading bariatric surgeon, to serve as medical director of the MVH bariatric surgery program.
"I have tremendous respect for Dr. Maguire and his accomplishments in helping people who struggle with obesity and his fight against the obesity epidemic, said Dr. Teel. "I am very excited to be working with him again, as well as the Miami Valley Hospital team to help people regain their lives."
Dr. Teel received his medical degree in 2000 from Loma Linda University School of Medicine in California. He completed his internship and general surgery residency at the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Peoria. Dr. Teel is a member of the American College of Surgeons; the Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons; and the American Society for Bariatric Surgery; the American Medical Association; the Ohio State Medical Association; and the Montgomery County Medical Society.
