Pastoral Care
At Miami Valley Hospital (MVH) we believe that meeting spiritual and religious needs is an important part of caring for the whole person. To respond to these needs, MVH pastoral care offers the services of the chaplains from the department of Pastoral Care and Counseling.
While doctors and nurses take care of your body and mind, our Pastoral Care Department is here to provide spiritual assistance to you, a family member, or a friend while you or someone close to you is a patient at MVH.
Pastoral Care Services
Chaplains are available in the hospital 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The ministry is available to people of all faiths and to those with no religious connection. You may ask your nurse or any member of the health care team to contact the chaplain at any time. You may also contact the chaplain by pressing the “Chaplain” button on the bedside phone.
The chaplains are an important part of your health care team. They are available to:
- Provide compassionate care and listen without judgment
- Accompany those in crisis or grief
- Share prayer and provide the sacraments
- Consult on ethical concerns and decisions
- Contact clergy from your religious tradition
Prayer Requests
Prayer is an important resource during your hospital stay. You are invited to share
your prayer requests with the chaplains. You may place your written request in the prayer box
located in the Interfaith Chapel or call the MVH Prayer Net at 208-2200. The chaplains will include your prayer requests each day during their morning prayer.
Interfaith Chapel
The Interfaith Chapel is a place for quiet solitude, meditation, and worship for people of all faiths. It is located off the main courtyard. The chapel is open from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. For other times, please contact the chaplain.
Regular Services
The Interfaith Chapel offers the following regular services:
Non-denominational worship: Sunday 11:00 a.m.
Morning prayer: Wednesday 8:00 a.m.
Your Place of Worship
If you wish, MVH will notify your place of worship of your admission. Because we respect your right to privacy, we will not contact anyone unless you request this service.
