About Elder Care
At Miami Valley Hospital, we know that caring for our elder patients is especially important. In fact, we have created the Elder Care program to allow us to focus on providing superior care to seniors admitted for hospitalization.
Our employees receive special staff education and training regarding the unique needs of hospitalized seniors. Several departments within Miami Valley have designated a staff member as a "geriatric champion." This person serves as a primary resource for any questions or concerns pertaining to the care of seniors.
The Elder Care program is associated with “Nurses Improving Care to Health System Elders” (NICHE), a nationwide geriatric initiative sponsored by New York University and The John A. Hartford Foundation.
