Gary Blake, RT, MBA, FACHE, Vice President, Hospital Operations

Gary Blake has been with Miami Valley Hospital (MVH) since 1983. He started as a registered X-Ray Technologist. Within a few years he became a supervisor in Radiology, Fluoroscopy, Urography, and Tomography. Following this, he was named Manager of Cross Section Imaging followed by Administrative Director for Medical Imaging. After 17 years as Administrative Director, he became Administrative Director of Surgical Services in 2007. In 2008, he became Vice President, Hospital Operations. He is certified by the American College of Healthcare Executives.   Gary received his Associate Degree in Allied Health, Radiology at Sinclair Community College. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Management and his Master of Business Administration from the University of Dayton. 

Robert Bowman, RN, MS, Director, Surgical Services

Robert Bowman joined MVH in 1995. He has worked as an Anesthesia Technician in Surgery, a Patient Care Technician, a Clinical Nurse, and a Nurse Manager. Robert earned an Associate Degree in Business and an Associate Degree in Nursing from Sinclair Community College in 2008. In 2003, He received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from University of Cincinnati and his Masters of Science Degree from Wright State University in 2007. He became Director of Surgical Services in 2008.

Susan Smith, RN, MS, Nurse Manager, Pre-Admission Testing and Admission/Discharge  

Susan Smith started her MVH nursing career after graduating from MVH’s Diploma program in 1978. She received her Bachelor of Nursing from Miami University and her Master of Science in Nursing Administration from Wright State University. Susan has worked in various Medical-Surgical and step-down units including burns, telemetry, neurosurgery and orthopedics. She has also served as a clinical instructor for Wright State University School of Nursing. She is certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.

Karin Fitzgerald, RN, BSN, Clinical Nurse Manager, Pre-Admission Testing

Karin Fitzgerald has been with MVH for 17 years. She worked in a wide variety of nursing roles before joining Pre-Admission Testing. She was a Staff Nurse on a medical/surgical and cardiac telemetry unit. She also was a Perinatal Care Coordinator in Integrated Care Management. Karin received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Wright State University School of Nursing in 1990.
