Miami Valley Hospital Launches Mall Walkers Club
DAYTON, OHIO—(January 23, 2009) — Lace up your sneakers and head to The Mall at Fairfield Commons in Beavercreek. If you have made a pledge to get fit in 2009 you will want to become a member of the Miami Valley Hospital Mall Walkers Club.
The community is invited to the program’s launch Fri., January 30. The event will be held in the Food Court located on the Upper Level of the mall. The program will get underway at 8:45 a.m. Events planned for the launch include a speaker from the Miami Valley Hospital Sports Medicine Center, free health screenings and refreshments. l
There is no cost to join the club and membership is open to anyone age 18 or older.
Those who sign up for the mall walking program will receive a host of free gifts including a pedometer, walking journal and a mall shopping pass. In addition, members can take advantage of free monthly blood pressure checks and receive information on other health topics offered by health care experts.
The Mall at Fairfield Commons is open to walkers Monday through Saturday between
8:30 a.m. and closing and Sunday 10:30 a.m. to closing.
“Walking is becoming America’s number one aerobic exercise,” says Sean Convery, MD, medical director of Miami Valley Hospital’s Sports Medicine Center. “Walking is safe, simple and doesn’t require expensive gear. The health benefits are enormous.”
Dr. Convery adds, “The climate controlled environment at Fairfield Commons makes walking for exercise safe and comfortable all year long.”
