Jayne Gmeiner, Director of Palliative Care, Director of Center of Nursing Excellence
Jayne Gmeiner started her career with MVH after graduating from the Miami Valley School of Nursing in 1980. Through her career she has been a nurse, Clinical Nurse Specialist, and Nursing Administrator currently responsible for the MVH Center of Nursing Excellence. After getting her diploma in Nursing, Jayne received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Master of Science in Nursing from Wright State University. Jayne often works with the Wright State University College of Nursing as guest faculty and as a preceptor.
Deb Bentley, Program Manager of Palliative Care
Deb Bentley joined MVH in 1995 as a Registered Nurse. She has always worked with seriously ill and terminally ill patients, beginning her career caring for patients on the MVH Advanced Care Unit, later transitioning to the Intensive Care Unit. As her skills and education increased, Deb joined the Palliative Care team, serving the program in this role during a rapid change in the program growth and patient volume. After receiving her Masters of Science in Nursing from Wright State Univeristy, with a focus on caring for critically and terminally ill patients, Deb became a full time Clinical Nurse Specialist for our Palliative Care Program, From here, Deb was promoted to the Palliative Care Program Manager.
Deb’s formal education was completed at Sinclair, University of Cincinnati and Wright State University. She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from UC, and a Master of Science in Nursing as an Adult health Clinical Nurse Specialist. Deb is board-certified CNS by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC),certified in Hospice and Palliative Care. She is also certified as an Advance Practice Palliative Care Nurse.
James Murphy, MD
Dr. James Murphy has served on the Palliative Care Steering Committee at Miami Valley Hospital since its founding. Currently he serves as one of the key collaborating physicians for the program. Dr. Murphy graduated from The Ohio State University Medical School and after completing his residency at MVH, he went on to complete a fellowship at Tulane University. Dr. Murphy is board certified in Critical Care Medicine and Pulmonary Disease Medicine. He has been practicing for 23 years.
