Walking Series for Seniors Set For Miami Valley South Health Center
DAYTON, OHIO—(May 9, 2009)—Miami Valley South Health Center (MVSHC) invites senior adults living in the south suburbs to participate in a free walking series that will begin this month and continue through September. The walks will take place the second Tuesday of each month 2 p.m. This month’s walk is scheduled for May 12.
Participants will gather in the main lobby of Miami Valley South Health Center where they will be greeted by a guide. The group will then take a one-mile walk along the scenic walking path which traverses through the wooded campus of Miami Valley South. Light refreshments will be served at the end of the walk.
“We know that walking has great health benefits and we want to share our walking path with those living close by,” says Cristlyn Johnston, community relations manager for MVSHC. “We do recommend wearing appropriate footwear as the surface of the trail is covered with pea gravel.”
The Humane Society of Greater Dayton will also be on hand each month to loan participants a furry companion to walk if they would like. The initiative is part of the society’s Paw Walkers program.
To register for the walking series, call toll-free 1-877-MVH-HLTH.
Miami Valley South Health Center is located in Centerville at the corner of Wilmington Pike and Clyo Road.
