Miami Valley Hospital Volunteer Board Appoints New Vice Chairman
DAYTON, OHIO—(August 20, 2009) — The Miami Valley Hospital Volunteer Board recently installed a new vice chairman and added four new members.
Trotwood resident, Talbert Grooms, Sr. assumes a two-year term as the board’s vice chairman. Grooms retired from the Dayton Metropolitan Housing Authority and currently serve as an adjunct professor at Wilberforce University. He has served as a Miami Valley Hospital volunteer for three years.
Newly elected board members include; Beavercreek resident Terry Neighbor, Linda Barber of Kettering, Gary Ford of Dayton and Jackie McCullough of Trotwood.
Miami Valley Hospital has a force of over 900 adult and 300 teen volunteers. Volunteers are assigned to various clinical and administrative areas of the hospital and perform duties to help make patients and visitors more comfortable and assist employees. In addition to giving time, volunteers organize events to generate dollars for hospital funded projects. Last year Miami Valley Hospital volunteers raised $194,306.
The mission of the Volunteer Board is to approve and oversee fundraising efforts and to act a liaison between members of the hospital’s executive team and fellow volunteers.
