Breast Cancer Information Presented by Miami Valley Hospital
Dayton, OH September 30, 2009 – The facts are alarming. A woman’s chance of developing breast cancer increases with age. At 20, it’s 1 in 1,847. By age 40, it’s 1 in 40. The lifetime risk of getting breast cancer is 1 in 8. Learn what you can do to lower you risks or developing breast cancer and get other information about breast cancer myths at the next Mall Walkers Club health event set for Friday, October 9 at the Mall at Fairfield Commons in Beavercreek. Featured speaker is Amy McKenna. McKenna is a registered nurse and a breast cancer coordinator at Miami Valley Hospital. The free event begins at 8:45 a.m. in the food court and healthy snacks will be served.
Miami Valley Hospital offers a health program at Fairfield Commons the second Friday of each month along with free health screenings as part of its Mall Walkers Club. This month blood pressure and cholesterol screenings will be offered.
You do not need to be a member of the club to attend the health talks, but if you would like to join you can do so. Membership is free and is open to anyone 18 or older. When you sign up you will receive a membership bag filled with a pedometer, walking journal and a mall shopping pass.
