Miami Valley Hospital South Planning Mammo Mixer

DAYTON, Ohio, October 19, 2010 -  Miami Valley Hospital South will host a "Mammo Mixer” Thursday, November 4th from 5p-8p. The event is being held to encourage women to get their annual screening mammogram.

The "Mammo Mixer" will feature complimentary spa services and refreshments thanks to Salon Reveal and Panera Bread as well as free gifts for each participant. Those who schedule a mammogram appointment are encouraged to bring a friend or family member to the event. Radio personality Kristi Leigh of Mix 107.7 will emcee the event. 

"This type of gathering makes getting a mammogram a social event, rather than a scary one," says Kathy McCarthy, manager of Miami Valley Hospital Breast Centres. "Women who attend can mix and mingle with other women while taking an important step toward preventing breast cancer by getting a mammogram."

In the United States one woman is diagnosed with breast cancer evey three minutes. Research shows that a screening mammogram is one of the most reliable tools doctors have right now for diagnosing breast cancer and early detection offers a woman the best chance for a cure
