Understanding Cancer
The word cancer refers to changes in the body's cells that cause them to grow out of control. These cells can grow very fast and spread, eventually crowding out normal cells and damaging entire systems of the body.
Cancer is a group of more than 100 diseases and it can develop in any of the body's tissues. Although each type of cancer has its unique features, the basic processes that produce cancer are quite similar.
