Leukemia
Leukemia is a malignant disease (cancer) of the bone marrow and blood that causes large numbers of abnormal white blood cells to be produced and enter the bloodstream.
Types of Leukemia
Leukemia is the general term used to describe four different disease-types called:
- Acute Myelogenous Leukemia (AML)
- Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia (ALL)
- Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia (CML)
- Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (CLL)
The most common types in adults are CML and CLL. ALL is the most common form of leukemia in children.
