Causes

There are several causes for colorectal cancer including genetic and environmental factors. Most colorectal cancers arise from adenomatous polyps-clusters of abnormal cells in the glands covering the inner wall of the colon. Over time, these abnormal growths enlarge and ultimately degenerate to become adenocarcinomas. Adenocarcinoma is a cancer of tissue cells that line the cavities and organs of the body.
