Lifestyle changes can go a long way in preventing a stroke. What’s exciting about the following suggestions is:

- The steps to take are not expensive

This simple, seven step list has been developed by the American Stroke Association.
You can start with one or two of the suggestions and gradually work in more. Miami Valley Hospital recommends that you discuss these steps with your physician before starting:
- Know your numbers (weight, blood pressure, cholesterol, blood sugar)
- Get active
- Eat better
- Lose weight
- Stop smoking
- Control your cholesterol
- Manage your blood pressure
- Reduce your blood sugar
