Prostate Cancer: What Every Man Needs to Know

Free seminar to take place at Miami Valley Hospital South

(Dayton, OH) October 6, 2011 – Men are invited to join Dr. Erik Weise, medical director of urological robotic surgery at Miami Valley Hospital to learn more about prostate cancer and screenings. Dr. Weise will conduct the free seminar, Thursday, October 27, 6:30 p.m. at Miami Valley Hospital South in Centerville.

Dr. Weise will lead an informal discussion on the disease and will answer participants’ questions. Prostate cancer treatment options will also be discussed.

Other than skin cancer, prostate cancer is the most common cancer among American men, according to the web site cancer.org. The American Cancer Society reports that about 240,890 new cases of prostate cancer will be diagnosed this year. That adds up to 1 in 6 men who will be diagnosed with prostate cancer during their lifetime.  Of that number, 33,720 men will die of the disease or 1 in 36.  Prostate cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death in American men, behind only lung cancer.

Men are encouraged to attend this session to learn their risks of getting prostate cancer. To register for the seminar call 877-MVH-HLTH.

Miami Valley Hospital South is located at the intersection of Clyo road and Wilmington Pike.
