Incontinence and Pelvic Pain Program

The Incontinence and Pelvic Pain Program at the Miami Valley Hospital (MVH) Rehabilitation Institute of Ohio treats women and men with poor bladder or bowel control and/or pelvic pain. Our team of physical therapists is specially trained to evaluate and provide treatment for pelvic pain and dysfunction with a conservative, multi-area approach.

Treatment plans focus on improving sensory awareness and strengthening of pelvic floor muscles, since weakness, tightness (spasticity) or poor control of these muscles can contribute to incontinence or pelvic floor pain. Because pelvic pain and bladder/bowel control problems are often related to orthopedic issues, we also emphasize stretching and strengthening of the back, hips, pelvic (sacroiliac) joints and abdominal muscles.
