A diagnostic mammogram is for women who:
- Have a breast problem
- Need follow-up breast care
When you have a diagnostic mammogram, two x-rays are usually taken of each breast, one top view and one side view. Sometimes additional x-rays are needed. A radiologist views the x-rays before you leave the office.
Miami Valley Hospital (MVH) has one of the Midwest’s most experienced breast centers. We have performed approximately 20,000 mammograms. MVH has long been committed to providing the results of a diagnostic mammogram at the time of the exam. A board-certified radiologist is on staff at all times to give an expert interpretation of the mammogram and to address the results personally with you if needed.
A diagnostic mammogram is covered by most health insurance companies, but you should call your insurance company prior to scheduling your appointment.
