Thank You for 20 Years of Partnerships in Trauma Care
Miami Valley Hospital's (MVH) Level I Trauma Program will begin a year-long celebration of their 20th anniversary as an American College of Surgeons (ACS) verified Level I Trauma Center beginning September 17, 2012. A Level I Trauma Center designation means we are able to provide the widest range of services to trauma patients, thus increasing a seriously injured patient's chance of survival. With more than 33,000 trauma patients cared for in the last 20 years, we are honored to help the communities we serve when they need us most.
Miami Valley Hospital has provided care to trauma patients in the Dayton region dating back to 1890, but it wasn't until 1984 that the hospital created a department dedicated to the care of the trauma patient. The new department coincided with the implementation of the hospital's flight program, CareFlight Air and Mobile Services. Through hard work and dedicated staff, the ACS verified MVH as a Level I Trauma Center in 1992.
