Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine Sixth Annual Medical-Spirituality Conference Set to Take Place

(Dayton, OH) March 3, 2014 – Registration is now open for the 6th Annual Medical-Spirituality Conference offered by Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine. This year’s conference title “Mindful Practice: Compassion and Resilience” will be held Thursday, April 10 at Sinclair Community College David H. Ponitz Sinclair Center. Featured presenters are Michael Krasner, M.D., FACP, and Ronald Epstein, MD.

Dr. Krasner has been teaching mindfulness-based stress reduction to patients, medical students, and health professionals for more than 13 years. He is engaged in a variety of research projects including investigations of the effects of mindfulness practices on the immune system in the elderly, on chronic psoriasis, and on medical student stress and well-being. He is an associate professor of clinical medicine at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry and practices primary care internal medicine in Rochester, New York.

Dr. Epstein is professor of family medicine, psychiatry, oncology, and nursing at the University of Rochester Medical Center, where he directs the Center for Communication and Disparities Research, the Dean’s Teaching Fellows Program, and the Mindful Practice Programs. He has devoted his academic career to promoting effective communication, mindfulness, self-awareness, self-monitoring, and shared mind in health care, and helping clinicians experience greater meaning and effectiveness in their work. The all-day conference will be held from 8:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and is open to anyone who has an interest in holistic health and spirituality especially physicians, nurses and other healthcare workers.
