Admission and Discharge

The Admission Area provides close observation, pre-operative physical assessment, verification of surgical site and informed consent, emotional support, communications needs and a location for preps, blocks, and line insertions for patiens undergoing surgery. The goal of the Admission Unit is to ensure the comfort and surgical preparation of each patient during his/her immediate pre-operative period.

The Discharge Unit provides assessment, airway and pain management, and discharge education for patients who have undergone surgical procedures. The goal of the Discharge Unit is to ensure the comfort and recovery of each patient during his/her immediate post-operative period by maintaining essential skills, equipment, and facilities.

MVH Admission and Discharge Unit Details

Number of Beds: The MVH Admission Discharge Unit has 33 private bays that provide flexibility for both admission and discharge needs.

Shift Options: Flexible shift options. Shifts are during the day and evenings to 9:00 p.m. Shift times are subject to change at the discretion of the Manager or Director at any time.

Orientation Classes: You will attend a hospital orientation followed by individualized orientation to the unit, based on previous experience.

Experience/Certifications: Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and perianesthesia experience is preferred. Advanced cardiac life support (ACLS), is required within six months of hire.
   
Dress Code: Professional scrubs. Details upon hire.

Unique Features: Orientation time varies from four to six weeks. You will have access to a unit based educator and leadership model to support your development.
