Advanced Care
Miami Valley Hospital (MVH) nurses working in the Critical Care step-down unit provide professional nursing care to a diverse population of medical and surgical patients. As an MVH nurse, you will work with major diagnoses including pulmonary disorders (pneumonia, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease - COPD), cystic fibrosis, tracheostomies, and ventilator dependency. You will also work with patients suffering gastro intestinal (GI) hemorrhage, major bowel procedures, multiple trauma and multi-system organ failure. As a nurse designated in the Critical Care step-down unit, you will provide care to the pediatric and adolescent admissions.
MVH Advanced Care Unit Details
Number of Beds: 30 beds with 10 designated private rooms.
Shift Options: Shifts are primarily 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. A limited number of staff works 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Flexible staffing options considered. Shift times are subject to change at the discretion of the Manager or Director at any time.
Orientation Classes: Orientation is individualized according to needs. You will meet weekly with the associate nurse manager to determine individual progress and learning needs. Orientation will be customized to your needs and to accomplish successful completion.
Experience/Certifications: Electrocardiogram (EKG) and monitor interpretation for treatment of the telemetry patient, advanced cardiac life support (ACLS), and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) required. You may complete these within orientation period. PALS certification desired.
