Blood and Marrow Transplant Center
Miami Valley Hospital (MVH) nurses assigned to the Blood and Marrow Transplant Center (BMTC) and Advanced Care Oncology will care for patients undergoing chemotherapy and advanced care for multiple types of cancer. MVH Nurses will provide emotional support to patients and family as well as education and patient care.
MVH Blood Marrow Transplant Center Details
Number of Beds: Six private rooms. The unit is fully hepa-filtered.
Shift Options: 12 hour shifts; Support nurses who can work four hour blocks and eight hour blocks. Shift times are subject to change at the discretion of the Manager or Director at any time.
Orientation Classes: You will need to complete nursing orientation in six weeks and advanced care orientation in four weeks. An Oncology Disease Management class is offered. This nursing department offers a great opportunity for continuing education units (CEUs).
Experience/Certifications: Encourage advancing clinical excellence (ACE) clinical ladder participation and Oncology Certification. Encourage involvement in local chapter of Oncology Nursing Society. You must have advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) certification.
Dress Code: Professional scrubs. Details provided upon hire.
Features: Predominantly care for BMTC patients, patients receiving Interleukin-II, and leukemia patients. RN's complete all order entry. You will have a supportive and stable nursing staff with a nurse manager and two associate nurse managers/educators. You will have a programmatic Oncology Clinical Nurse Specialist, Data Manager, and Medical Director.
