Medical Imaging

Miami Valley Hospital (MVH) nurses working in MVH Medical Imaging provide invasive and interventional diagnostic and therapeutic treatment modalities to both inpatients and outpatients. You will participate in and support computerized tomography (CT) and ultrasound (US) biopsies, abscess drains, thoracentesis and paracentesis; angiography of all  major blood vessels (excluding coronary) with stent placement and balloon angioplasty, chemoembolizations, and treatment with Y- 90. You will also participate and support the stroke center and neuro-interventional procedures conducted. You will assist in dialysis access placement and fistula salvage, cerebral coiling, and carotid stenting. MVH nurses also assist and perform uterine fibroid embolizations, vertebroplasty, and trauma assessments. Conscious sedation is provided.

MVH Medical Imaging Unit Details

Number of Beds: Four-bed holding area for pre-procedure evaluation.

Orientation Classes: Your orientation classes will all be department based as we have our own CNE. The Preceptorship is on a 1 to 1 basis for a minimum of eight weeks.

Experience/Certifications: Advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) required. Previous intensive care unit (ICU)/critical care experience required.

Dress Code: Hospital scrubs provided.
