Pulmonary Patient Care

Miami Valley Hospital (MVH) nurses working in MVH Pulmonary Patient Care will work primarily with pulmonary patients and their monitoring, including chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and pneumonia patients, ventilated patients, and patients who require BIPAP therapy.

MVH Pulmonary Patient Care Details

Number of Beds: 39 beds, including a four bed pod for our patients who require a higher level of care.

Types of Patients Cared for on Unit: Pulmonary population includes those with exacerbations of COPD, rule out tuberculosis (TB), VRE, MRSA. Those requiring a higher level of care may be in our four-bed POD.

Common Procedures: You will assist with ventilation and BIPAP, intubations, bronchoscopes, blood administration, and suctioning.

Shift Options: 7:00 a.m.- 7:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. - 7:00 a.m., every third weekend and every other holiday. Shift times are subject to change at the discretion of the Manager or Director at any time.

Orientation Classes: Individualized orientation varies based on needs upon hire. You will attend electrocardiogram (EKG) classes and ACLS.  You may initially orient on the day shift (7:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m.), then progress into the shift hired.

Experience/Certifications: Prefer one year of critical care experience, but willing to train. Advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) within six months of hire.

Dress Code: Professional scrubs. (Details provided apon hire).
