Miami Valley Hospital (MVH) nurses have a great opportunity to float to all areas of the hospital. As MVH float staff, you are primarily assigned to adult areas of the main hospital. On rare occasions you may go to the emergency room, normal newborn patient care areas, NICU, and Miami Valley Hospital South emergency room or Patient Care Unit.
MVH Staffing Resources Unit Details
Shift Options: Days, evenings, and nights, 12 hour and eight hour shifts. Four hour shifts may be available. Shift times are subject to change at the discretion of the Manager or Director at any time.
Orientation Classes: Orientation is individualized for each new employee based on previous clinical background.
Experience/Certifications: To apply as a float nurse, you must have a minimum of one year of inpatient acute clinical experience with preference given to advanced care experience. Some critical care experience is preferred. You must maintain advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) and pediatric advanced life support (PALS) to be eligible for float staff differential. There are two levels of House Float RN's. There are Designated Unit Float RN's. The Med Surg/Advanced Care and Advanced Care/Critical Care Designated Floats. Then there is the Whole House Float RN that would go to any clinical area in the hospital.
