Dietetic Internship Rotation, Classes, and Projects

- Interns will be scheduled based on a 40 hour work week. However, they spend additional time outside scheduled work time to complete projects, reading assignments, etc.
- Classes are conducted in all phases of the internship. These classes are typically held on Monday.
- Interns attend bi-monthly Dayton Dietetic Association meetings, the annual Ohio Dietetic Association meeting and the annual Ohio Legislative Day for students and Interns.

- Cardiology two weeks
- Critical Care/Burns/Wounds three weeks
- Long Term Care one week
- Neurology/Advanced Care two weeks
- NICU one week
- Medical/Surgical two weeks
- Oncology/Blood and Marrow Transplant/Renal two weeks
- Orientation one week
- Pediatrics one week
- Pulmonary one week
- Staff Responsibility four weeks
Community
- Diabetes Center one week
- Public Health one week
- Bariatrics/Outpatient one week
- Wellness/Cardiac Rehab two weeks
- Public Schools one week
Food Service Management
- Activities/Projects three weeks
- Food Production/Sanitation/Purchasing two weeks
- Orientation one week
- Patient Food Service two weeks
- Retail Operations two weeks
- School Food Service four days
- Staff Responsibility four weeks
Other
- Projects two+ weeks
- Vacation three weeks
Total 46+ weeks
Projects
Project weeks are intended to allow interns time to work on their major projects.
Vacation
Vacation time includes two weeks during the December holiday season and another week in the spring, prior to starting staff responsibility.
Holidays
Interns receive holidays off on Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Day. Interns work Memorial Day; to compensate they receive days off during the week.
Dietetic Internship Graduation Requirements
In order to graduate from the program and receive a Verification Statement, interns must complete all rotations, assignments, projects, and other program requirements at the satisfactory level or above.
